Our Club offers a full competitive program for swimmers aged 6 to 20 years of age, plus athletes with disabilities of all ages. Teams compete primarily at the provincial level, usually participating in at least 4-6 meets per year. Competitive families take an active part in helping to run the club through volunteer activities.
As a competitive athlete at Toronto Synchro, you will train on a team with girls of a similar age and ability. Teams train between 2 to 4 days a week depending on their age and the level of competition. Most teams will practice at least once on a weeknight (eg. at the University of Toronto Athletic Centre) and once on Sunday morning or evening (eg. at Regent Park Aquatic Centre or the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre). We are pleased to be able to offer a bursary program for swimmers in need of financial assistance. In addition to weekly practices, swimmers participate in regular extra figures training and cross-training sessions, known as our Technical Excellence Program, as well as a number of events. These include team-bonding events such as team dinners and club-wide events such as Burning Bright for Breast Cancer swimathon and our Club BBQ.
While Toronto Synchro prides itself on fostering an inclusive, friendly atmosphere in all of our programs, we are also an increasingly successful competitive club, with many Toronto Synchro swimmers, from all age groups, reaching the podium and achieving personal bests. During the 2015-2016 season, Toronto Synchro became the top provincial club in the City of Toronto, the GTA, and the Central/North Region. We are hoping for continued success this season.
Competitions take place from January to June, and include:
– Lisa Alexander Figure Meet
– Waterloo Invitational Routine Meet
– Central/North Regionals
– Hilton Invitational Routine Meet
– Trilliums (12 year olds and under only)
– Age Group Championships (Synchro Ontario’s provincial championships)
Competitive team tryouts take place each June for the following season. All team placements are finalized by the end of August to be ready for our Annual Back to Synchro Boot Camp in early September. Extra routines are finalized in September.
